Chromogenic substrates for the assay of alkaline phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.1) and acid phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.2)

Applications

Phosphatases are hydrolase enzymes which remove phosphate group from other molecules. Measurement of phosphatase activity can be performed to detect phosphatase-active bacteria. In humans, elevated serum alkaline phosphatase levels have been associated with various diseases, such as biliary obstruction, bone conditions, liver diseases and leukemia.
